An Inner City Elopement

We were so excited to have been able to be a part of this gorgeous editorial shoot with photographers Jacquline Anne Photography and Shaeline Faith Photography.

Let me start from the beginning…

Our good friend Nicole Lapierre told us about two fabulous photography students she was mentoring that we needed to meet. Both Jacquie and Shaeline came to visit us and introduced themselves in our offices and we immediately clicked with both of these talented women. So of course when they asked us to be part of their upcoming editorial shoot by providing stationery we were beyond ecstatic!

They told us the feeling of the shoot was European travel which included brass details, café au lait and pastries, flowing fabrics and vintage touches with a nod to historical architecture.

A little about the stationery suite…

This gave us inspiration to start on the invitation. Fine art was key in this design, beautiful handmade papers, modern calligraphy and deckled edges. Typically when designing we start with the main invitation piece, this allows the other components to compliment the design. We chose a standard 5 x 7 size with a serif block font and the main body text, how much more traditional can you get, am I right? We included original calligraphy by Lisa, our stationery consultant and owner of Scribble & Script. We also included a custom monogram with an illustrated line drawing of a floral wreath that was both delicate and traditional. From there we created co-ordinating pieces all printed on ivory Arpa hand made paper in slate grey ink all bundled together with the palest blue hand dyed ribbon by Honey Silk Co.

The shoot took place in the newly renovated Halifax Club, the refresh inside made sure to keep the heritage of the building which included the gorgeous mouldings, the enchanting staircase and fireplaces. The club was established in 1862, so it is filled with historical architecture and was the perfect backdrop for these spectacular photos.

Katrina Tuttle Bridal created the loveliest lingerie and gown that flowed beautifully, embellished with delicate lace details. Ziphora Hunter and Naphtali Carleton were the talented beauty team who turned Rachel Keys the lovely model into a bride with hair accessories by Miss Foxine. I remember seeing all the lovely golden hair combs laid out in a row for Ziphora to choose from and each one was so intricate and detailed. Our groom Ilya Kravtsov, was suited by Zara and he was dressed perfectly for the occasion. The stunning vintage engagement ring from Fireworks Gallery was a sparkling dream! The decor whisked you away to Paris with stunning stemware from Nova Scotia Crystal, floral by Oopsie Daisy Floral Design and the sweetest cakes by Just Iced Custom Cakes. All these elements perfectly combined with Make Merry Events rentals made for wedding decor that dreams are made of.

After dropping off the stationery and seeing the spectacular architecture inside The Halifax Club, it made me notice the other beautiful buildings in downtown Halifax even more. It put them in a whole new light and I now have so much more appreciation for the history this city holds. I even snapped few pictures on my phone while walking back to my car.

We hope the photos transported you to a little city where you walk the cobblestones, sip cappuccinos and eat all the carbs, just like it did for us.
